Peter Colvin is an Associate Attorney at Washington Energy Law LLP, where he advises the firm’s clients on complex regulatory matters involving electric generating resources, wholesale electric markets, and transmission infrastructure, among other matters. His work is informed by a strong interdisciplinary background that combines legal training, business acumen, and engineering expertise.
Peter earned his Juris Doctor and STEM-designated Master of Business Administration from Boston College, and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Princeton University. This technical foundation enables him to approach regulatory challenges with analytical rigor and practical insight.
Prior to joining Washington Energy Law LLP, Peter served on the Regulatory Analysis Team at the National Laboratory of the Rockies, where he authored policy reports and developed regulatory guidance for the Bureau of Land Management on a range of resource-related issues. He also gained law firm experience as a regulatory and energy policy analyst, supporting filings and strategic initiatives before the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board. In addition, Peter contributed to federal grant compliance investigations while serving as a Congressional Oversight and Investigations staff member for the U.S. House Committee on Energy & Commerce.
